Canary Islands - Discover Lanzarote in 8 days

Lanzarote is the most surprising island of the Canary archipelago. Volcanoes and the sea have brought out landscapes where colours and warmth from the recent but extinct eruptions are still kept.
The climate allows hiking in the countryside the whole year round. It really invites you to discover craters and lava fields, the coast, creeks and beaches, crops on volcanic ash, etc.
Olita Treks offers you, in 8 days, the possibility to know and understand the island with a experimented guide. You can discover landscapes and lonely places enjoying at the same time the beaches, towns and local cuisine. You will benefit, definitively, of a unique way of doing tourism scrolling the island with your family or friends.
Moreover you can stay in a nice accommodation close to the sea. Included in the program you will spend a day in the lovely tiny island of La Graciosa and you will also discover the never ending beaches and barren gulleys of Fuerteventura.

STEP 1 - Arrival : Arrival of the flight. Transfer to accommodation. Briefing.

STEP 2 - The North : Splendid and continually changing landscapes throughout the walk: two coasts, the crater and lavas of La Corona volcanoe and the island of La Graciosa from the crest of Famara Cliff. Typical farming on volcanic ash and a large variety of endemic plants and flowers can be seen. Seabirds. Visit to Jameos del Agua, master piece of Cesar Manrique, a collapse of a volcanic tube in which an endemic blind crab live in a natural pool of sea water.

STEP 3 - La Graciosa island : After a short voyage from Órzola in the north of Lanzarote the trek starts out in the charming little port of Caleta del Sebo in La Graciosa. We traverse dunes, lonely beaches and lava fields through a volcanic and coastal vegetation. Swim and pick-nick. Return to Lanzarote.

STEP 4 - The Volcanoes : Unique and surprising walk through lava fields and recent but extinct craters providing a large span of shapes and colours. Basalt bombs, cinder, ash and lavas “aa” and “pahoehoe” through exhilarating landscapes. Lychens and colonizing plants in extreme conditions. Pic-nic and visits to the Visitors Center of Timanfaya and El Golfo.

STEP 5 - Fuerteventura : A drive to Playa Blanca in the South of the island where we take the Ferry to Corralejo in Fuerteventura. We cross the Parque Natural de las Dunas and following the coastal road. Visit to Montaña de Tindaya and the Ecomuseo in Tefía, typical hamlets and traditional handicrafts. Trek on the central crest of the island around Betancuria. Pic-nic and visit to the old town. Swim in one of the nicest beaches of the Canary Islands. Late in the afternoon we cross again to Lanzarote.

STEP 6 - - The vineyards of La Geria : A trek by the central crest climbing to the old Guardilama Volcano from where we will have a panoramic view of the South and Center of Lanzarote. Descent to La Geria where the vineyards grow on volcanic ash and have to be protected from the wind with a little wall. Pic-nic in a wine cellar. Visit to Teguise, ancient capital of the island.
